TECHNICAL PRODUCT INFORMATION

Polished Tungsten Wire for High-Temperature and Structural Applications

Polished Tungsten wire is widely used in applications that require exceptional thermal stability, mechanical strength and dimensional integrity. With the highest melting point of all metals, tungsten wire is a reliable choice for high-temperature, vacuum and structurally demanding environments across research, industry and technology.

At Luma Wire Tech, we manufacture tungsten wire in fine and ultra-fine dimensions, with typical diameters from 4-300 microns. Consistent mechanical properties and controlled quality make it suitable for applications where standard tungsten performance is sufficient without additional surface treatments.

For applications with stricter requirements on surface condition or conductivity, we also offer etched tungsten wire and plated tungsten wire, engineered for more demanding environments.

Key Characteristics of Polished Tungsten Wire

  • Mirror kind of very smooth surface
  • Highest melting point of all metals (3,422°C)
  • Excellent tensile strength and creep resistance
  • High density (19.3 g/cm³)
  • Excellent dimensional stability at elevated temperatures
  • Stable performance in high-temperature environments
  • Suitable for vacuum and inert atmospheres
  • Available in fine and ultra-fine diameters

Precision Surfaces for Precision Applications

For ultra-fine wire, surface quality is a critical performance parameter. At Luma Wire Tech, our electropolishing process creates exceptionally smooth, clean, and uniform wire surfaces that minimize imperfections and optimize functionality. Every wire is processed under tightly controlled conditions to ensure consistent quality from prototype to production.

Compared to conventionally processed wires, Luma electropolished wires offer:
  • Exceptionally smooth and uniform surfaces
  • Reduced surface defects and micro-cracks
  • Improved consistency in demanding applications
  • Enhanced reliability and longer service life

Whether used in medical devices, aerospace systems, electronics, or scientific instrumentation, our precision-finished wires are engineered for applications where every micron matters.
Luma Wire Tech’s fine wire features a polished surface that stands out compared to competitors

When to Choose Cleaned, polished or Gold-Plated Tungsten Wire Instead

Etched Cleaned Tungsten Wire:

Choose etched cleaned tungsten wire when surface contamination, oxides or residues can interfere with performance — such as in vacuum systems, semiconductor testing, medical devices and particle detectors.

Plated Tungsten Wire

Choose polished tungsten wire when exceptional surface smoothness, reduced friction, and long-term reliability are critical. Electropolishing creates a clean, uniform surface that improves wear resistance and minimizes microscopic surface imperfections in demanding precision applications.

Plated Tungsten Wire

Choose plated tungsten wire when stable electrical conductivity, corrosion resistance or solderability is required in demanding environments.
